  • French Broad River Park Dog Park, 508 Riverview Dr,  an acre fenced and wood chipped yard for off-leash dogs. The Dog Park features a large fenced-in area, with a water pump, perfect for exercising and socializing your dog.  Located at Amboy Rd. and Riverview Dr. in west Asheville. 
  • Azalea Dog Park, 395 Azalea Rd., separate area for small and large dogs plus a gazebo is in the large dog area
  • Biltmore Estate, grounds are perfect for walking your pets, but please keep them securely leashed at all times. Pets (except service dogs) are not allowed in any building. All pets must be leashed on estate grounds for their own safety as well as the comfort of our other guests. Please be courteous of others and pick up after them. A very limited number of outdoor, unattended pet kennels are available at Biltmore. Self-service and first-come, first-served basis.  see a parking host for kennel info upon arrival on the estate.

  • Duck, dog friendly beaches, Dogs are allowed on the beach unleashed, but as a matter of public safety and courtesy, they should be under the watchful eye and contact of their owner.
  • Southern Shores, dogs allowed on the beach before 9 a.m. and after 6 p.m. from May 15 - September 15 and on leashes all year.  Collect dog waste. Rabies vaccination proof. Basic stuff.
  • Kitty Hawk, From the Friday before Memorial Day until the day after Labor Day between the hours of 10 a.m. and 6 p.m., dogs must be on a leash not exceeding 12 feet. Dogs may be taken off the leash only if they will not disturb other people.
  • Kill Devil Hills, Dogs are not allowed on the beach from May 15 - September 15 during the hours of 9 a.m. and 6 p.m.
  • Nag Head, Dogs are allowed on the beach year-round as long as they are restrained by a least not exceeding 10 feet. Cape Hatteras National Seashore, dogs allowed on 6' leash all year included on Cape Lookout NP and  Shackleford Banks
